IDAHO is the International Day Against Homophobia, held annually on 17 May, the date in 1990 when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses. Discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) people still exists in many forms all around the world. In many countries, being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender is illegal and punishments are harsh. In others, discrimination is commonplace. IDAHO is a chance to work together around the world to challenge prejudice, discrimination, and violence against GLBT people. Since it started in 2005, IDAHO has been growing fast. On May 17, actions and events will be taking place in more than 50 countries around the world. IDAHO activities include conferences, protests, petitions, art projects, parties, and more - all aimed at fighting homophobia and transphobia and celebrating diversity.About IDAHO
